NORMAN MUSA, born in Penang, Malaysia, moved to the UK as a student and graduated in Quantity Surveying. After 10 years in construction, he switched careers to become a full-time chef and opened his first restaurant in Manchester. He ran three restaurants before stepping away to focus on promoting Malaysian cuisine around the world.
He is an award-winning chef who has worked and cooked for some of the best in the business, including as race chef for the Formula One Lotus Team. He was the Kuala Lumpur Food Ambassador, promoting the city as a gastronomic destination to the European market.
He has appeared on MasterChef Malaysia, Tom Kerridge’s Best Ever Dishes on BBC2, Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, and John Torode’s Malaysian Adventure, and has hosted five seasons of his own cooking show on Malaysian TV. Norman has published five cookbooks, with Amazing Malaysian as his bestseller. His most recent, Maleisië, is for the Dutch market. He previously ran masterclasses for Leiths, Fortnum & Mason, and Divertimenti.
He is the co-creator and tutor for the Wagamama Chef Academy and founder of the Asian Cooking Academy. Based in London, he hosts his chef residency twice yearly at The King & Co in Clapham, and splits his time travelling to Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Brussels to run cookery events.
